How to Plant (repotting ) an Aloe Vera Plant
- Build your pot:
After washing the new pot instantly (or a good scrub, if you've used the pot before) and letting it dry completely, place a small piece of screen over the drainage hole; This will prevent the soil from falling down and allow proper drainage of water. Paper towels or even a double piece of newspaper can work with a pinch, even if they break over time.
- Build your plant:
Remove the aloe vera plant from its existing pot and remove excess dirt from the roots, taking care not to injure the roots.
If you have chicks in your plant, remove them now. (See the "Care" section on this page for instructions on how to remove and put the buds.)
If your plant has a very long, pointed stem that does not fit in the pot, it is possible to cut the stem in half. Note that this is dangerous and can destroy plants.
To trim the stem:
Cut off part of the stem, leaving as much of the stem as possible. Next, take a bare plant and place in a warm place with indirect light. After some days, calluses will form on the wound. At this point, go with the given instructions.
